"God rest ye merry, gentlemen"

So I started the rest of the readings that were requested, but I haven't finished them...I still need to do the final interpretations, and I'm just too tired to do them tonight. So look here on Thursday for the readings.

A couple of random things to keep you all entertained (or maybe a little grossed out) in the meantime...

First, a 19 year-old in NY was convicted of felony animal cruelty recently for accepting a $10 bet and biting off the head of a gecko. The good news, this kind of thing is considered a parole violation! Really, this man seems to be heading for a Darwin award in a couple of years, I think.

Second, my statscounter tells me that someone found my page by looking up the word "smenita." This was that pesky word that everyone was getting on 12/1...at least that's what my google search turned up. People were gabbing about it all over blogspot (and a few blogs beyond) - even in multiple languages. All except for a blogger called Taffy Doublewide who posted a comment on another blog and said that the word was her word-verification (and it must have been successful).

And, lastly, have any of you read the full lyrics for The Wassail Song? Such a cute little song about children going out to sing for spare change in the dead of winter while the rich listen warm with their wassail inside their houses. Oh my! I suddenly have a new image of Christmas.

I'm going to go curl up with my book for the next half hour or so!

Maybe you should post the song, spins. I always thought it was about caroling for the wassail. Hmm. Like they would sing and then get hot beverages to drink. Dang. I liked that song, and wassail. In fact, it featured heavily in my novel.

Ah, the Wassail. Yet another example of a pagan tradition absorbed into an ostensibly "Christian" festival.

Waes hael, Spin!

I love looking up how people found my blog. My newest weird one is "granny in hotrod wheelchair."

Smenita, the act of making up words.

How do you find out where the people who get on your blog are from, and how they found your blog? I'm not that savvy with blogger yet to have figured that out.
