"There's nothing more to see here, people, keep moving on"

I'm feeling a wee bit depressed tonight. I haven't heard back from CF about the e-mail I sent, and I'm imagining awful things. I'm starting my period and I think I'm a bit in that weepy stage. And I didn't help my mood at all by watching King Kong tonight. Yes, I knew how it would end and I still put it in. Now I've got a bit of a headache, a couple hours before I go to sleep and nothing that particularly draws my interest. S doesn't come back for 4 more days, and I miss him. ACK!

My work today did nothing to increase my mood either. I spent the greater part of the day working with people who are trying to navigate the state Medicaid and the Medicare systems. I just have to tell you that the state of health insurance in this country is absolutely hideous and Medicare Part D makes me want to spit on someone.

Strangely, the only thing that really cheered me up today was Bill Gates. Well, okay, his wife. The Gates Foundation is giving $500 million to an international fund that is working to fight HIV and several other diseases. They want to focus on prevention (which the Bush administration has been actively cutting funds for). This is a very good thing.
