I don't know what to title this...

I know that I'm a little late hearing about this, but I just had to share.

Apparently, frightened of the new statistics indicating that adult women were choosing to bear children without the "sanctity" of marriage, the Bush Administration's Abstinence Only Programs have set new guidelines for 2007 funding requests. They are suggesting that states target populations most likely to have children "out of wedlock" anywhere from ages 12 -29.

Yes, that's right ladies and gentlemen, our federal government is putting up big bucks to tell our unmarried adult citizens that they shouldn't have sex unless they are married. Now, I do agree that not having sex is the only way to ensure never getting pregnant, but why shouldn't unmarried folks, either singles, couples, or more, not be allowed to reproduce?!

I'm already told by a government funded agency that as a woman I should think of myself as a vessel of reproduction, and always have my body in readiness to carry the fruit of my sexual labors. Now the dictate is that I shouldn't labor sexually unless I have the governmental stamp of approval for my relationship.

Soon, I'm thinking, we will be instructed in the best possible sexual positions for reproduction and that we should only engage in sexual acts during our most fertile time as women. You think this is far-fetched? Go read that second paragraph again...it might allow your mind to open to the infinite possibilities such a train of thought.

I'm so glad those guys, and yes those who write up the bulk of our legislation are most likely male, have our best interest a heart. They are so fond of our liberties that they will stop at nothing to ensure that we do the "right" thing! You have to give it to the guy, he just does not quit trying to make an ass of himself!
