"When the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars"

Tonight, I feel a little like this:

It was a busy weekend: After seeing clients on Saturday, I went to help move the Lutheran Volunteer House to its new location. By the time I got there the moving had been done, but there was a meeting to attend, then a few boxes to unpack. So I did put in a bit of work there. The new neighborhood is made more interesting by this:

It's pretty damned ugly, if you ask me, but no less quirky than the house next door to where the old house used to be. They (the renters) have taken to collecting old televisions and displaying them in their front yard. It is pretty overrun now as people keep donating them. That's Berkeley for you.

Today was a kite kind of day: breezy and cool and mostly carefree.

I spent the afternoon with Sweet16 (so dubbed because she's sweet and she got carded for an R rated movie today!). We went to a movie...then had bad food-court food. My movie recommendation for the weekend (well, for several weeks) is the 40 Year-Old Virgin (yes, the irony is not lost on me, I assure you). Run, do not walk, to your nearest theater and see this now. I laughed almost all the way through it, and it just reinforces that Steven Carell is a comic genius. And now I have the earworm of "Age of Aquarius" playing over and over...ACK!

I asked Sweet16, as her husband is hardcore ComicMan, if she had heard about V is for Vendetta. Since so many good things had been said on other blogs about this, I've been curious. ComicMan has been after Sweet16 to read it before the movie comes out, but she's a little leery. So now my mission is to find and read it and give her a report of whether it's something for her to pursue.

I briefly went to the park to visit the kites before heading off to destroy my hardwon sanity by spending 4 hours on the Sunday afternoon before the beginning of university at IKEA. And who's idea was that?...Oh, that's right, mine! I have a low tolerance for the crowds of IKEA on weekends, anyway, but this was something to see.

The good news is that we (OfficeMate, her partner KeepsMeSane, and I) were able to find a couch (that will fit through the door), a chair, a rug, and a waste basket. We also had some good, if exhausted conversations about art and what we want on the walls.

Home and exhausted, I was pleased to find that I had been one of 2 closest guesses as to where Lord Bargain would be going on vacation. I win a CD compilation, and despite Swiss Toni's deprecating remarks about it's content, I'm quite thrilled. Yay!

Sleep well, all.

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.........
We've been having that on a car ad playing over and over again here.
It's annoyingly catchy.

Imagine someone who also feels like the dozy cat. But outside nine trillion tons of water are bucketing down (it is the British summer, you see)...

Mentally, i am a very soggy cat now.

I saw that house featured on a show once, on Discovery or The Learning Channel. An architect designed it for his mother. The interior is pretty cool as I recall, rather like being inside a nautilus shell. The neighbors weren't please, but his mother was. :0)

Great to hear that the office is coming along! I've always wanted an office of my own, but as I have nothing to do in it, it's rather pointless. *G*

spins - I may be being deprecating, but I have had the dubious pleasure of having had a close look at Lord B's record collection... and I can tell you that you are going to be in for a real delight. How much do you know about Sinitta?

I kinda' dig that gaudy gaudy house. At least it's more interesting than row upon row of zeroxed suburbia, right?

better to have a quirky neighbourhood than a boring one.

I'm with anonymous on the quirky neighbor. My quirky neighbor and I found that we have a lot in common!

ST - I now know that Sinitta has at least one fan who likes black backgrounds with lot's of stars...will I be treated to a Sinitta track. What's the inside scoop?

As for the house and quirky neighbors, you all should just drop by Berkeley for awhile. It's a little strange, though, I once had a tourist take my picture sitting at a bus stop in, what I accepted, as work clothing. Apparently, even Berkeley work clothes are a little more off beat than the rest of the world.

Interestingly, I've never had a tourist take my picture in Oakland...in fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen a tourist in Oakland!

there'll be no Sinitta content, let me assure you.

although there was nothing wrong with either "So Macho" or "Toy Boy"....
