Random Post #503

I have a lot on my mind these days. And apparently some of it I'm finding rather stressful. I had a dream last night that woke me with my heart pounding. I was in a car with my father and my sister. My sister was driving and I was in the backseat. My mother was outside of the car standing on the street. As my sister drove down the street, she drove into a pool of water which didn't look very deep, but it was quickly deep enough to stall the car. Then, it became clear, that it was even deeper as the car began to fill with water and sink. I'm unsure of why none of us tried to open the car doors as the water filled the car, but we didn't try to leave. Soon the car was flipping in a slow somersault and the airpocket that I was in was shifting away. I took a deep breath to hold it. It was my holding my breath that woke me up.

Luckily, I didn't stay stressed too long and was able to get back to sleep. Still I'm disturbed by the images of the dream and how vivid it was.

Yesterday, I was reading the news about the men who had been captured in the shootings that had been happening for the past several months in Phoenix. The police had been pretty baffled because there was no connection between the victims and it seemed that the shooters also targeted dogs and cats at times. One of the suspects denies that he had anything to do with it, or that he had any idea that his roommate took part. His roommate apparently confessed, describing the acts as "random recreational violence." I've been mulling over that phrase since I read it. It's implications are disturbing and more global than I can really take in right now.

Not all my randomness today is stressful or negative. I had a good giggle yesterday over the invitation I received, in my name, to join AARP (American Association of Retired People). They posed the question, "Isn't it time you started enjoying the benefits of life over 50?" Thanks, but I think I'll wait another 15 years. Although, I have to admit, I'm sorely tempted to apply and see how often I can actually claim the discounts without anyone questioning me (since I'm still getting carded when I order alcohol, this might be a bit tricky).

For those of you who have been following the Shuffleathon that ST had been hosting, you will be interested to know that the CD I sent out has now been reviewed at Adem's. I posted the reasons for my choices in an earlier post.

If I think of more randomness, I'll be sure to update during the day.

She's right!

And Random recreational violence is actually one of my biggest fears.

OMG! That's hysterical. I didn't realize it had posted twice. And I'm definitely leaving it.

*Charby fun fact*

Best way to escape from a car sinking in a river is to open the windows as the car goes down, that way the pressure can equalise and you can open a door, otherwise the water pressure holds it shut.

I thank you!

I'm one year away from the AARP. Be careful before you make fun of us old folks. :)
