Slept Late

I have today off as I plan to work on Friday (which I normally have off). There is something so decadent feeling about waking in the middle of the week knowing that I don't have to do anything today. I didn't set my alarm, and I slept soundly until about 10 a.m. It was glorious.

Of course, I do have plans for the day. I'm feeling much better, physically, so I'm planning to do some more cleaning of the house. Laundry and dusting and getting the main room floor cleaned. I plan to run a few errands and maybe I'll take a nice walk to the library later.

The last time I was at the library, inspired by listening to the recording of Cannery Row over Thanksgiving, I checked out another audio book. I so love to read that I've often just overlooked this section of the library. But what I'm finding is that it seems easier to get into listening to certain books than it is for me to read them.

The book I just finished listening to was Into Thin Air, about the 1996 Everest expeditions in which so many people died. It was utterly compelling to listen to...obviously, there were very sad mistakes that were made, but what struck me the most was both how completely fragile life is (even the most robust life) in such an environment and how incredibly resilient.

I don't think I have many readers who are mountain climbers, but let me just say that if any of you blogfriends ever takes a fancy to climbing Everest, I'll be stopping by to tie you down until we can get you committed and evaluated.

On an unrelated note (except for the tying reference), I can't seem to stop thinking about sex over the past couple of days.

On that happy note, you all have a grand day!

I loved rock climbing, but was never into mountain climbing, so no institutions in my future I hope.

My MIL used to be a sort of housekeeper for Sandy Pittman, taking care of her country home nearby while she was off doing her thing.

Nothing wrong about thinking about sex. Very healthy!

The only thing I'll climb is a flight of stairs.

Every post should end with sex.

I climbed (well, walked up)Mount Snowdon once.
Sex; always a pleasure, never a chore.
