Life of the party!

Last night, I helped HippyChick break a promise to BeeDragon. It seems that BD had, long ago, made HC promise not to ever throw her a surprise party. Well, as BD's birthday approached and she announced that she wasn't going to celebrate, HC decided that she couldn't let this birthday pass without some celebration. HC is a little like me about birthday's...she really loves to celebrate them.

The weeks leading up to this event have been full of e-mail messages and stressed conversations with HC, including one on Friday convincing her that BD was not going to hate her for the rest of her life. Last night, a crowd of us gathered to bring the party to BD. The look on her face was precious. It was clear that she just couldn't incorporate, at first, what was happening. She was a bit shocked at first, then we all heard her tell HC that she wasn't mad at all.

I think she may have been expecting to come home from some event, tired and needing space, to find her home invaded by a full-scale, rockin' party. It was a little different. Her good friends came to visit with party stuff, and enjoyed good conversation and nummy, hot brie (okay, well, I ate most of the brie, I think).

Nikkyo, the kitten, had the best time playing. There were a couple of toddlers there who were really adorable and well-behaved. Leo kept showing off his cars, and little Gillian...well, she was just chubby cheeked cuteness.

As you can see from the picture above, the party got a little wild for me at the end, as I ended up making out with myself in public. Normally, I'm a bit more reticent to share such experiences, but it just felt right. No need to worry, the toddlers were gone by that point.

In other exciting news, I got a vacuum cleaner on Friday and used it for the first time yesterday. It was way cheap and converts from an upright to a handheld. But it works, and for the first time in a very long time, the floor and rugs in the front room of my apartment are clean! Yay!

Thank you so much for everything Spin :) HC has informed me of your pre-party involvement and support. I had a great time and appreciate all the thought and work that went into deceiving me, so I could not be mad for very long. Thanks for being there to celebrate with me :)
