And Another Thing!

Another article on SFgate was entitled "President Bush Marks Earth Day." Well, yeah, I guess he has "marked" Earth Day with the passing, by the House of Representatives, of the bill to open up drilling in the Alaskan wildlife. This bill included an amendment to protect makers of MTBE, which contaminates water sources, from lawsuits. This may be a mark we cannot erase. Let's hope that the Dems in the Senate can put up a real fight.

(...getting down off my soap box...)

I assumed they meant he marked it like an animal, as in "pissing all over it" :)

Agree with both of you. This ridiculous bill also rejected an option to raise the standards of fuel efficiency, and to repeal and exemption for Outer Continental Shelf royalties to energy firms. (Basically a 200 million break to energy producing magnates) Keeps getting better and better doesn't it?
At least my congresswoman voted against all of these, despite the rest of the house vote.

And now, today, our Prez is calling on the Saudis to increase oil production. Damn, I think he just needs to talk to his auto producing buddies and get them to work on hybrids or electric cars. Really, did they make such a fuss when they "had" to start producing SUVs?
