Cellphone Madness

Last night, I was waiting with several others to use the facilities in a public restroom. It very quickly came to my attention that the woman who was ensconced in one of the stalls was carrying on a conversation. Now I've been known when visiting a women's room with friends to talk across stalls with them. But it became quite clear that this was a one-sided conversation I was hearing, and that she was talking on her cellphone.

My first reaction was laughter. I couldn't stop giggling. Toilet's were flushing loudly right next to her, and she still chatted away. Then came the second reaction of annoyance. I could only assume that this was the reason why 3 women had come and gone from the adjacent stall while hers was still occupied (there was no other "evidence" of why she should be delayed). This is wholly inappropriate in the world of women's room etiquette. Space is at a premium and bladders are small. Get on with your business, as tidily as possible, and get out!

Cellphones have invaded everywhere, apparently, and I think that it's time that we really draw the line. I guess that I'm prudish enough to have thought that this was a line that really didn't need to be drawn.

Too funny! I would have thought that whomever she was speaking with might have pointed out that talking in the toilets was perhaps not the best idea as well! It can't have been pleasant to listen to the toilets flushing. How odd!

god, that is SO nasty.

I mean...sound effects! Both the speaker's and others. I would REALLY not want to be on the other end of that convo.

Plus, where do you put the phone while you wipe??

Just EEEEWWW.

Maybe she had an earpiece thingy? I still have a hard time talking on the phone to my daughter and use the restroom, and when she is home we quite often are both in the bathroom together, but on the phone, I don't know, it just feels rude. Call me old school!
