"I know the rise and gradual fall of a daily victory"

I'm not sure how long this thing will be fun...Here was my schedule today. I got up and went to work...left work and got some food on the way to see clients. Saw 2 clients, then headed home. Watched NCIS for 45 minutes, then wrote for 1:15. I managed just under 2000 words, but now it's after 10 p.m. and I feel like I just got done with work. I'm going to go take a shower after I check my friends in blogland one last time...then it's off to bed to start all over again. I guess the good news is that I get off work tomorrow at 6 p.m., but I do, absolutely, have to cook tomorrow night, as spending next weeks grocery money on take-out is just out of the question.

Work continues to be stressful this week. I talked to B for a bit today and she was able to talk me down a bit. Just concentrate on the work that's in front of you, she said. Don't obsess about the problems you can't solve. And really the things that are making me stressed, I can't solve. I can't hire us a new clinic director, or make our interim any different. I can't change the fact that I work for a new company who wants to change the way that I dress doing my job (I have to wear a lab coat...I don't work in a lab!). Anyway, I took her advise. I was still stressed, but at the end of the day, I felt like I'd gotten a lot done, rather than more stressed because of all the extra work that was piling up.

So, I want to share the insanity that is our current debt culture...in case there are those of you who aren't already intimately acquainted with it. There was a commercial on tonight for a Citibank card, and the promotion was this: we'll waive the late fees, so long as you make at least one purchase per billing cycle. Here, at last, I can say is evil incarnate! And where is our pure good to balance it out, I ask....

I'm glad B was able to help you relax. It sounds as though work is really stressful, but you're developing a healthy attitude to all of the changes. It can't be easy. Hang in there!

Can I make a suggestion? Well, gonna do it anyway...lol

I would suggest buying groceries and making several things tonight that you can refrigerate or freeze and pop in the microwave over the next four or five days...Buy salad fixings and make a giant salad that you can use for a few days. That way, dinner will already be mostly done when you get home. Save lots o' time for writing!

Write on! And good luck.

C.

p.s. I'm impressed with your endeavor. I don't think I have the stamina to take on a 50,000 word anything!

I just re-read my posting, and realized that it sounds kind of petty that I'm stressed about being told how to dress...but it's about more than that. It feels like the potential for my autonomy is being taken away. (This idea of autonomy is an illusion, I know.)

Blech! I'm going to stop now.

Word of the day: "liwnd" which somehow makes me think "lewd wind." I don't know what that would be exactly....sounds provacative.

I DO work in a lab & they took our lab coats off us.
They said that they set us apart from the rest of the staff.

Well what the hell's wrong with that? Nowt as far as I can see. I'm a bloody lab technician & maybe I'm an arsehole for thinking it but I want to be set apart from the manual labour that only started yesterday & who doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

Oops, Sorry Spins, rant over!

Actually, Flash, it feels quite the same...we are being forced into looking the "same" as the medical staff....and I'm not and I don't think it's helpful to my patients for them to think I am.

I'll send you my lab coat, if you like. :)

Down with credit card companies and compulsory uniforms!

Hope you get a chance to relax between all the work and novel writing.
