Oppression

You haul Sixteen Tons, whadaya get?
Another older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

I watched the documentary last night Maxed Out about the overwhelming amount of personal and federal debt that we have in this country. It's probably not a good movie to have watched on the first night that S is out of town for 5 days.

I was left feeling anxious, not just about my own debt, but from memories of the summer before my parents filed bankruptcy. It was awful. The creditors were awful. The sense of despair that just hung over the house was awful. It's not a time I like to remember at all.

I guess I'm going to have a lot to talk about in therapy today.

How did the session go?

It went well. I hadn't shared those experiences with my therapist and he had some interesting insight into it and how I was relating to it right now. I both love and hate my therapist. It's a very strange experience.
