It rained last night!

For those of you outside the Bay Area, this may not seem like news. Indeed, in the midwest or on the east coast, this can be a regular occurrence during the summer months. But it is, literally, unheard of here. In the past 100 years of keeping records, there has not been measurable rainfall on this date. I would hazard a guess that this is true for most days of the summer months.

I'm not going to make any dire predictions based on a random rain (I can't even call it a storm with only .01 inch falling), but it's just weird.

I spent the evening last night with S. We went for a swim, had dinner, then went back to his place and spent time planning a trip to Reno.

S is funny sometimes. He doesn't think of himself as a planner, but he is. He may not know exactly when I'm supposed to meet him tomorrow for our outing during the day, but once he figures it out later in the day, he will probably have figured out exactly how long it will take to drive to our destination. He may even have figured out where we will eat lunch or dinner.

With this Reno trip, we were trying to figure out the dates and so he wanted to figure out all the possible things we wanted to do in Reno now. I'm a planner, but not quite to this extent. I think I was frustrating him a little because he sent me out to listen to the NPR program I wanted to listen to while he made hotel arrangements and started working on flights, etc.

Well, everyone, have a wonderful day...and stay dry!

What dates did you decide on?

What are you planning to do while in Reno?

Just the two of you or is SS going as well?

We'll be going to the Balloon Races so it's the weekend after Labor Day. We have a bunch of different things planned...the balloon races, a bull-riding competition, kayaking at the white water park. It's going to be pretty full. SS will be going as well.

I woke up in a Virginian hotel to heat that was flattening, bleaching the vegetation. Halfway through Pennsylvania, I had to change into a long-sleeved shirt because the temp had dropped into the 60's and it was pouring rain!

Yes, the weather has been odd.
