Weekend Update

It was a really busy weekend. S and I went out on Friday night to see the Oakland Symphony perform Verdi's Requiem. I love the conductor. He has this incredible energy and animation. We headed home to bed after the performance.

The next day, after clients, I went back to S' place and we had lunch. He'd gotten a chicken pot pie from this cool local bakery and it was so good. Then we goofed around a bit. We headed out in later afternoon to CAL for the CAL v Stanford basketball game. It was fun, but Stanford really did outplay us...and, therefore, won.

The bands from the 2 schools were playing outside the venue afterwards and we watched for a bit, then went for some dinner and some sport shopping at the dollar store before I took S home and went home to my bed.

The next morning, I headed back over to meet S & SS for our introductory navigation map. It was out at a park in Antioch, so we were up early for our trip out there. The class was really interesting - learning to read maps and how to handle a compass. The park ranger who taught it was really interesting and fun.

Then we headed out on the hands-on portion of the day and went for a hike. It was billed as moderately strenuous and it really was only a 2 mile hike. But it ascended 480 feet during the first mile of the hike. That's hard on a good day, but throw in the fact that we'd just had heavy storms the day before and were walking on a very muddy path as a was very hard. The mud would pull on your boots as you picked up your feet and would build up on them as well, adding additional weight to your feet.

S was very encouraging, and there was a young man who helped me out by sticking with me and talking to me the whole way. He was very sweet

I got a headache during the hike, but I had a lot of fun at the same time. It did start raining as we were headed back down, but that was kind of fun.

We went for a late lunch, then headed home. I dropped off S & SS and went right home and into a bath. Last night was a quiet one at home. And now here I am at Monday again. How does the weekend pass so quickly?

I love how you spend your free time, it's one of the reasons that I read this blog, especially how diverse your interests are. Spending a weekend with you and S sounds like tons of fun. Keep it up

Cody - It's one of the things that I love about S is that he is all about unusual things and trying new things. It can be a bit exhausting sometimes, but I'm never bored.

It was so kind and sweet of that man to keep you company.

I took an outdoor ed class in school once, and it was so fun and interesting. Orienteering was part of that. Glad you had such a good time, despite the headache and mud. :0)
