"Send my thoughts to a far off destination"

So, yes, my day did go okay today, but not before I made myself feel sick with anxiety. Luckily, I got to deal with the situation before I even walked in the door, so I spent the rest of the day calming myself.

I don't have much to say today. I will say that it seems like things are somewhat down in blogland these days. It feels a little like the midwinter blahs are settling in.

So what does Spins do when she has the blahs (and isn't so depressed she can't think)? She fantasizes...daydreams. Yes sometimes they are a little risque, but often I do strange things like fit myself into the story of a book that I'm reading or a television show I enjoy.

These fantasies aren't always terribly happy (I used to pretend that I was Guinevere when I was younger...oh the tragedy!), but in them I usually have more power or prestige than I perceive that I have now. Often I use these fantasies to help me fall asleep (because I can get as detailed as a Jean Auel novel in them when I set my mind to it).

I've done this for as long as I can remember. In fact, I can remember that such fantasizing helped me get through the torture of the Pythagorean theorem in a math class. The teacher thought I was taking notes, but I was really just playing out a fantasy on paper.

Does anybody else do this, or am I a bit of a freak (well, okay, I know I am - but answer anyway)?

So what about it...let's dispell the blog blahs, and share a bit of a collective fantasy. I'll start:

I'm on a beach. It's nighttime, warm and not much breeze, which is perfect for the bonfire that I have going. I've spent the day having a massage, some girly time with HippyChick and P'tit Loup getting a pedicure, eating good veggie food somewhere, taking a nap and reading a good book...now it's time to hang with the blogland crew. So I'm spreading out my beach blanket...I'm the first one here. Who else wants to join me?

Wow, just yesterday I was doing this (I don't do it in earnest all that often, but I daydream all of the time). I was thinking this: I'd give up my parental rights to my kids, sell my house and move to a mid-sized city in Alaska. I plan and begin to get an epic full-body (Just neck, face, hands and feet spared) tattoo and work slinging hash. I grow my hair out into dreadlocks, too.

I'm there! I've got my corner of the blanket staked out, I'm stretched out on my back looking up at the stars and feeling the night wind dance across my skin.

I'm there, too. I've brought stuff for Smores [because I am like a three year old when it comes to that] and am settling next to you two.

I am digging my toes into the sand and feeling it's coolness.

Oh- and Spinny, I am sure you get sick of people asking, but, can I brush your hair? I miss lovely long hair, and yours is so nice...

I have just shown up with a camera.

AG - you can brush my hair...and actually, I've never had anyone ask to do that before.

I hope that one of you brought some music! Maybe there will be dancing...

I'm in the water - I'm part seal, dontcha'know.

I was just thinking this morning, after seeing a picture of Naomi Watts on the beach in my subway paper (the picture in the paper, not the beach in the paper), about how much I want to be swimming in some nice, warm, plant-less (I hate water plants) ocean right now.

So count me in on your group fantasy, Spin. I'll be harrassing you all to come join be in the water before long, though, as I get lonely quickly.

Oh - Ka- I love to swim, so after I am done playing with Spinny's hair I'll come out and join you.

The rest will have to coax me back to the beach with chocolates and drinks, though, because I have a hard time getting out of the water once I am in it.

I can't believe no one has ever asked to brush you r hair! Its so lovely. Not to mention its incredibly relaxing...

Chocolate? *passes over a smore*

I'm in the water too, snorkelling and occasionally swimming under the water to grab Ka and AC's legs and make them jump!

All this chocolate and nothing to drink?

Shots? Shots anyone? Strawberry, Peach, Blueberry?

All this fun is going on, bet your ass I'm there. I'll stay on the blanket for the most part, you might find me digging a sand hole somewhere though, call me over for the dancing. I could use some lessons.

I brought my bottle of patron tequilla (what else is so great in the sun) and I can't wait to jam with some of the nice folks around. All of us have great voices and can stroke many instruments collectively after we had a dip in the warm, soothing ocean. Thanks for inviting us Spin! It is worth every minute of the time spent there!

I do daydream a lot. It keeps me sane, lets me continue to have hope for the world which often brings me down and leave me powerless. In my fantasies, I always have some control, and all the folks around me like me. and those who don't, I have no problems putting in their place, I feel powerful, beautiful and vibrant. How about you all?

I'm there too, relaxing on a branch of a nearby tree, quietly singing and gazing at the stars while deciding which of you I'll hit with a marshmallow first...

"Does anybody else do this...?"

What is the other option?

I'll bring the marshmallows. Happy blogday :)

Sorry it took me so long, but you do need a guy there, right? I'll make sure the food and beverages are there.
