Misty Bethoven

S and I went to see The Opening of Misty Bethoven last night at the Parkway Theater. We ate veggie pizza and had rootbeer, and were there early enough to get to sit in one of the couches down front. For those who don't know, I certainly didn't, it's a classic porn film. It's something of a satire on My Fair Lady, and it was a hoot!

I'm not generally fond of porn. It's so unnatural - fake boobs, the lack of hair on people's bodies, the completely uncomfortable positions that the women (mostly) have to get in. This was very different. Apparently the Brazillian wax hadn't been invented and women had normal breasts. And these people had a definite sense of humor about the whole thing.

The bad part of the night came when, while strutting confidently back to our couch, I tripped and fell down some stairs. My poor right arm is not at all happy with me, although I've been icing it a lot today. My first thought, after having fallen, was "wow, that was a really good fall" because instead of falling flat on my face, I kind of angled along my side where there is generally more padding. I pointed this out to S, after he'd made me take an inventory of my body, and he admitted that he'd missed the fall altogether (he was distracted by veggie pizza). The worst part was the rush of adrenaline that took a bit to fade.

I've spent most my day just lounging and resting. I'm meeting up with S tonight for a Sukkoth celebration. This will be the 2nd time eating under the succah for me. The first was a dinner I went to with HippyChick when we were still in school. The funny story about that was that she and I were the only ones at the table who ate meat. So the host had asked an icebreaker question: "If you were stranded on a deserted island with only one meal to eat for the duration of your stay, what would it be." I think that she and I went first. I thought I was pretty practical to choose chicken, since there are so many ways to cook it and there were sure to be other things growing on this island. HC picked sushi, I think. But then the next couple people picked really hardcore vegan things...including one woman whose answer started with, "well first I'd have to figure out which grain I'd want."

I don't think that there will be much of that.

I'm going to be giving my hand a rest for the rest of the weekend, so I'll be back to you all after my appointment on Monday morning.

Ouch! I hope that arm is feeling better. That movie sounds like fun, actually, if the makers had a sense of humor.
