Knowledge is power?

I guess when knowledge is available. It's so amazing to me, with all the testing we've done, how much we really don't know about our bodies. My experience with Lyme disease was evidence of this. My experience with allergies just reinforces that.

It is so disempowering to know that something is going on and not be able to do much about it. I am taking my antihistamines and not doing things like kick up any alternaria, and yet my allergies are awful (I'm convinced it's not a cold at this point).

And my doctor tells me that not a lot is really known about most allergies, and since my allergy is to something that is EVERYWHERE (unless you live in Antarctica, and even that may change with global warming), I'm pretty much shit-out-of-luck.

I suppose I shouldn't bitch, as one of my colleagues reminded me, the patients I work with can't pee. I've got a lot to be thankful for in that area.

It would just be easier, it sometimes seems, to rip the sinuses out. S informs me that the risks of this outweigh the benefits, unfortunately.

Okay, end of my pity party for today.

Have you thought about allergy shots?

It's good to keep it in perspective, but it still really sucks and I'm sorry that you suffer this way. *hug*

Anonmyous - I'm doing additional skin tests to make sure there's nothing more to put in the mix for the shots, then I get to start.
